About Us
The Sabot Family
The Sabot family, Dick, Jude, and their four children; Diana, Topher, Oliver and Julia moved to Williamstown in 1984 and to Oblong Road, next door to Cricket Creek Farm, a year later. Dick taught Economics at Williams College and Jude had her hands full with the four children. The family purchased the farm in 2001 and Dick and Jude worked to establish a viable future for Cricket Creek Farm. Jude recently received her certificate in Artisanal Cheese Making from UVM and currently heads the cheesemaking operation on the farm. Topher works closely with Jude on all management issues and runs the dairy side of Cricket Creek with the help of Seth Hanauer of Hidden Pasture Farm. Dick passed away in 2005, and the farm is very much a testimony to his vision and enthusiasm.
Lesley Graham
Lesley Graham joined Cricket Creek Farm in June 2008. She grew up visiting her grandparent's dairy farm in London, Ontario as well as playing with friends at Shelburne Farms in Shelburne, Vermont - also a Brown Swiss dairy. Lesley worked at Shelburne Farms in Shelburne, Vermont in a variety of capacities over the years; gatekeeper, dishwasher, breakfast cook, Children's Farmyard educator, receptionist, summer camp counselor pre-university and as a development assistant then assistant to the Vice-President & Program Director post-university. In the winter of 2008 Amy Jeschawitz (a former Shelburne Farms employee, current cheese maker for Cricket Creek) contacted her to see if she would be interested in moving to Williamstown to help in the growing activities of Cricket Creek. Interested she was and here she is!.
Jamie Ott
In the fall of 2007, Jamie spoke with Jude about helping with the cheesemaking at the farm and from there the idea of starting a bakery at the farm grew. The farm store sold the first loaf in December 2007. Jamie founded the Clarksburg Bread Company in 1982 as a home-based wholesale bakery. The business experienced steady growth and Jamie (along with her business partner/husband) incorporated the business and moved it to leased space on Spring Street in Williamstown. It continued to flourish until the Otts sold it as a successful business in 1997. Jamie continued to work in the food service and baking fields at Buxton School, Canyon Ranch of the Berkshires, Williamstown Community Preschool and Wild Oats Community Market until the bakery at Cricket Creek opened. Jamie has a unique relationship with the farm: She grew up there, when her father was the herdsman at Cricket Creek.
Other
We are lucky to have a great group of people working at Cricket Creek Farm. In addition to Lesley and Jamie, Seth (mentioned above) has been critical to the continued existence of the farm over the last year. His partner at Hidden Pasture Farm, Fiona Harrar has also been a great asset, and Dusty Perry's can-do attitude and hard work is a major part of the farm.
